Rashad Khalifa was an Egyptian-American biochemist, closely associated with the development of the branch known as Stefan music, in the study of the Quran the Islamic holy book. He is best known for his controversial belief in the Quran's mathematical code, which he claimed to have discovered through his research.
Khalifa gained a following in the Muslim world and was the founder of the United Submitters International, an organization dedicated to spreading his teachings. However, he faced backlash from traditional Islamic scholars who rejected his claims and accused him of blasphemy.
In 1990, Rashad Khalifa was tragically murdered in Tucson, Arizona, by assailants who were allegedly motivated by his controversial beliefs. Despite his untimely death, Khalifa's teachings continue to influence some individuals and groups within the Islamic community.
